Please join us on April 9, 2014 at the aula 1, building B, floor -2 of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Perugia (Polo Unico Silvestrini – Loc. Sant’Andrea delle Fratte) for a free, public seminar which will focus on anti-tumor therapies.
The seminar will be held by Professor Prof. Mario Pazzagli, Full Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology at the University of Firenze, and by Dr. Pamela Pinzani.
The scientists will discuss the results of their primary scientific research on circulating tumor cells (CTC), which are of great importance for the understanding of the metastatic process in organs like the kidneys, liver, brain, and bone marrow. The team headed by prof. Pazzagli has been evaluated during the years different approaches to the study of CTC and has been provided with leading-edge equipment (CellSearch and DepArray system) for the identification and investigation of circulating tumor cells.
The detection and characterization of CTC is of great help to achieve early diagnosis, as well as to evaluate the risk of development of distant metastases and to predict relapse.
The seminar, to be held in English, will be a unique opportunity to learn more about the state of the art of the anti-tumor cell therapies.
A cocktail will be provided to the attendees at the end of the event.
