We are pleased to announce the launch of new innovative product for the prevention of endometriosis: a predective genetic test.
The test anticipates a suspected diagnosis of endometriosis, allowing for an improvement in quality of life and the prevention of infertility.
In collaboration with the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Perugia, led by Dr. Saverio Arena, we conducted an interventional study, submitted to the ethical committee of the Umbria Region, on a cohort of 100 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of endometriosis or adenomyosis. The data from this study align with a recent publication in a reputable scientific journal, suggesting an increased risk of developing endometriosis by approximately 20-25% compared to the general population.
ENDOme provides a predictive, rather than diagnostic, result indicating the likelihood of developing endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a chronic multifactorial gynecological condition that affects 10-15% of women of reproductive age. Specifically, it has a prevalence of 0.5-5% in fertile women and 25-40% in infertile women. The symptoms can vary widely, and the diagnosis often comes after a long and costly journey, leading to significant psychological repercussions for the woman.
Being able to know early, even just the possibility, of having an increased risk of being affected by endometriosis allows women to try to reduce the damage caused by the disease,” emphasizes Saverio Arena, Director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the Santa Maria della Misericordia Hospital in Perugia. “We know very well what endometriosis is and how difficult life can be for those who suffer from it. We must and can start to become aware that it is extremely important to identify patients at risk as early as possible.
