Fourth event of the T.I.S. “Top Italian Scientist” seminar series – Thursday, January 22, 2015 – H: 14.00 – Room 8 (Floor – 2), School of Medicine, Univ. of Perugia
A new event of the “Top Italian Scientist” seminar series will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 14.00-16.00 in the Classroom 8 of the School of Medicine (Univ. of Perugia).
TIS N.4 will feature Prof. PAOLO PUCCETTI, world-renowned pharmacologist and Professor at the University of Perugia, who will give the speech entitled ““LIGANDS AND RECEPTORS: PHARMACOLOGICAL DOGMAS AND IMMUNOLOGICAL EXCESSES”.
ABSTRACT: In recent years, some classic dogmas of physio-human pharmacology have been overturned by new mechanisms of communication and interaction between cells in the immunological field, like dual nature of ligand and receptor surface molecules, the redundant and pleiotropic nature of the cytokine hormones. Therefore, the central nervous system and the immune system compete for the primacy as most evolved functional system.
Prof. Puccetti is the author of over 200 articles appearing in MEDLINE, including over 10 articles published in Nature journals, some of which with more than 500 citations. Prof. Puccetti currently stands in 21st place in the international citation ranking of pharmacologists.
